READER QUESTION AT CTCR Online

Major Moves & Fishbacks (June 5, 1999)
"Hi:

  1. What has been the performance of Major Moves?
  2. What amount of $ do you need to trade its recommendations? (Are minis a possibility?)
  3. Have you ever followed options newsletters and do you have any info on options courses, like Fishbacks, etc.?

Thanks, S.W."

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF COURTNEY SMITH'S ANSWER AT CTCR Online

Editor-in-Chief Courtney Smith:

1. We just officially began tracking it late last year so we don't have a long official track record. So far, it is modestly profitable. However, I think that it would be higher but we only started tracking foreign futures recently and I had a couple of winners last year in those. Oh well. Major Moves was started by Bruce Babcock and I took it over at the beginning of 1996. I believe, but cannot prove, that it has been consistently profitable during the whole time.

2. You will probably need about $10,000 to have the margin to cover all the trades, if you ignore the very occasional S&P trade. However, I always recommend that people use much more money so that they have the staying power to cover the inevitable downdrafts in equity.

3. We don't track options newsletters because we can't get good data to track them.

Once again, thanks for the questions!
