Michael
R. Gibbons' Background
I have traded
stocks and futures since 1969. I was a futures broker and commodity
trading advisor. I was trained in fundamental analysis while with
Clayton Brokerage and learned technical trading after reading
virtually everything that had ever been published. My program
is actually neither technical or fundamental per se but rather
pattern recognition based on crowd psychology.
I left the
advisory part of the futures business to engage in research and
to promote a very successful sports investment service. I disagree
with much of what the futures industry is all about and have had
many ethical problems being involved with the industry. The regulators
exist for the most part to protect the members of the industry-making
it hard for new entrants to get started. In addition, most customers
lose money because of the very structure of the industry; it is
designed so the member firms win and the customers generally lose.
I do not
manage customer funds nor do I consult on specific issues regarding
any investor's portfolio. I decided a few months ago to offer
my trading recommendations to clients. It costs me nothing to
do so and my observation is that my trading signals will work
no matter how many people are aware of them. They are based on
a specific pattern that repeats itself year after year with very
few exceptions. It worked in 1939 just as well as in 1999. I know-I
have checked the data.
My background
is in economics, statistics and computers. I was one of the first
people to use stock index arbitrage for clients and to offer construction
loan hedging programs to real estate developers. My work is a
blend of very original ideas and a synthesis of other people's
valid trading concepts.
