"My
name is Mark. I am a subscriber to CTCR, perhaps the last to
get online. My recollection is that I can receive both Major
Moves and CTCR via e-mail; if so I'd be happy with such an arrangement.
I assume there is an economic benefit to CTCR, and since Mr
Smith and the rest of you folks have always given more than
expected, I'm happy to reciprocate. I very much enjoyed the
last issue, and found the System Test to be a fine addition.
At the risk of repeating myself, in an industry where products
rarely live up to their hype, CTCR stands out as a model for
the way things ought to be... Thanks and best wishes to all"
"Your
site is excellent and stimulating. I feel myself being drawn
to subscribe." M.K.
"Mr.
Smith,
I've had the good fortune to read your newsletter on occasion,
and commend you for your candor on trading systems. I am a local
at the CBOT but previous to this have traded from off the floor
for 15 years, and have even managed money. I am thrilled that
you advise people against trading futures even though if affects
my livelihood negatively. Although I do not believe there is
any magical trading system out there I know there is a way to
consistently take money out of the futures market. Usually the
system vendor or guru leaves out some important item in the
mix. I have personally seen over 75% of what's out there, and
most of it is just a rehash of older material stolen from someone
else. I am certain and without a doubt I can teach better trading
techniques than are available out there. There seems to be more
profit in selling trading secrets than in trading commodities.
I will admit some of the stuff out there works but the risk
and the slippage are underscored by the claim of huge profits.
When I traded off the floor I was always upset about my slippage
and order execution. Now that I am on the floor I firmly believe
that everyone who trades commodities should have to spend one
hour on the floor to see what goes on. They would never again
complain and would just be happy that their one lots even get
filled at all. Just make sure you inform your readers that the
phrase "past performances are not indicative of future results"
means we tweaked the shit out of it in backtesting and you don't
stand a chance of achieving the same performance. Also should
you wish to print all or any of this letter please withhold
my name.
Thanx"
